Field of Reach: The City as a Score
Benjamim Furtado

In Field Of Reach: The City as a Score, artist and musician Benjamim Furtado looks for human traces in urban landscapes, and considers their musicality and emancipatory potential by dissecting his relationship with graffiti and city dwelling. The writing lays out a methodology for poetically interpreting urban environments through a psycho-geographical reading of human traces and a psycho-acoustic awareness of the city. In doing so, Furtado looks for ways in which citizens might reclaim and navigate urban spaces, how spaces might represent its citizens, and the potential for personal and collective liberation through differently observing and relating to our surroundings.
