Thing Theories

Thirteen objects are brought to the table. We let them converse through the stories they carry. A constellation forms and in its light, we formulate relational theories. Theories for things, for objects as artefacts, their definitions cracked open and their meanings expanded.
Thing Theories was assembled over three days of writing, speaking, collecting, drawing, indexing – going from the docks to the coffee corner, printing sounds punctuating the days. A composite curiosity cabinet has been fabricated, fabulated and transformed, its result a publication that traces possession and connection, legacy and memory.

Thing Theories: A Publishing Intensive was organised and hosted by OUTLINE and Off Course at Werkgebouw Het Veem over the course of three days, with additional exercises and workshops facilitated by Romy Day Winkel, Chloé Gourvennec, Ashley Ho and Alex Walker.
